Rainy Day Party Games...What to do When Thing One and Thing Two aren't Available!

Posted by GoGo Goodie on October 04, 2011.

As I sit here and write I am awaiting LA's first rain storm of the fall, set to arrive tonight.  It's the perfect time to compose a list of the best indoor games for kids.  So, whether you are throwing an indoor birthday party or hosting a playdate while it pours outside, try these classic crowd pleasers:

FREEZE DANCE

Just turn on the music and you have an instant game!  If you have time to prepare, have your child construct a play list and get involved with the planning.

SIMON SAYS

Everyone loves Simon Says!  Funny thing about Simon Says, everyone thinks it will be so easy, but it never is.

LIMBO

How low can you go?

BEAN BAG TOSS

Make a special cutout target from cardboard or plywood ahead of the party.  Add different point values for each target and give out prizes for the top scores.
HIDE AND SEEK

Nice, easy and fun!  With a large group, it's hard to beat the excitement of Hide and Seek!

MUSICAL CHAIRS

I remember my mom orchestrating a game of musical chairs for one of my birthday parties and I loved it!  Run the game several times and give out a few prizes to add to the excitement.

So let it rain, let it rain, let it rain....and let the games begin!
