Halloween Cupcakes

Cupcakes continue to be all the rage and there seems to be no limits to the creative designs of these "fun sized" cakes.  So, I've scoured the web to bring you the best of the best Halloween cupcakes designs.

Red Velvet Brain Cupcakes

Simply follow the recipe of your favorite red velvet recipe for the cupcakes and frosting.  Pipe frosting on top in small rows, as pictured, for a brainy delight!

Dracula's Bite

This too is a perfect design for a red velvet cupcake recipe.  After completing you cupcakes you will need to make the following "blood"/Cherry sauce recipe;

Cherry Sauce:
1 cup black cherries, fresh or canned
1⁄4 cup very fine (caster) sugar
1⁄2 cup water or juice from the canned cherries
1⁄2 tspoon lime juice
1 tblespoon cornstarch

Blend the cherries in a bowl using an electric hand blender, then place in a medium-sized heavy-based sauce pan with the sugar, water, lime juice and cornstarch. Heat on medium until the cherries begin to release their liquid, and then slowly bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce to a simmer and heat until the cherry mixture has thickened to the desired consistency (runny enough to pipe but thick enough to prevent bleeding into the frosting). Allow to cool.

Pour the cherry sauce into a frosting bag with a #67 tip. Insert the tip gently into the frosting to make "bite marks," and then spill the "blood" out over each cake.

Spider Cupcakes

For these delicious chocolate dipped spiders, follow the recipe for your favorite chocolate cupcakes and frosting.  Top off with chocolate sprinkles, two red hot candy pieces for the eyes and eight pieces of black licorice for the legs.  Keep an eye on them because they are likely to crawl away!

Take Me To Your Leader Cupcakes

Choose a vanilla cupcake recipe and frosting, simply add a few drops of neon green food dye to the frosting.  Cut a marshmallow in 1/2 crosswise.  Spread a thin layer of icing on top of cupcake and place marshmallow cut side down in center of cupcake. Spread frosting on top of marshmallow and place a donut hole on top of marshmallow.  Place in freezer for about 15 minutes.  Next, microwave your frosting for 10-15 seconds until it has the consistency of whipped cream, stir frequently.  Gently dip the tops of the cupcakes into the green frosting, allow excess frosting to drip off before turning the cupcakes right side up.  Before the frosting hardens, place two chocolate covered sunflower seeds onto the cupcake for eyes and two pieces of black licorice for antennas.  Eat...these are out of this world!

Mummy is that You? Cupcakes

This works well with a chocolate cupcake recipe and cream cheese frosting.  Simply pipe the frosting in rows back and forth across the cupcake using a flat cone.  Add red food coloring to a very small amount of frosting and pipe two circles for the eyes on each cupcake.  Next, add black food coloring to another small amount of frosting and dot the red eyes with the black frosting.  Enjoy!

Fang you for stopping by for these ghastly treats!  Now don't be a creep and forget to hand out goodie bags at your halloween celebrations!
