Stocking Stuffer Memories

Posted by GoGo Goodie on November 08, 2011.

Of course, growing up, we all loved Christmas morning and running downstairs to discover what bright shiny new presents were waiting for us.  There would be a pile of presents for each of us kids and our names would be written on a small piece of paper placed on top of the pile.  It was amazing how quickly we worked our way through the pile, eyeballing each gift for a few seconds before moving on to the next.  All in effort to quickly gauge how much "stuff" we got and which gifts would be our favorites.

Once the gift feeding frenzy died down and all the discovery was over it was a bit like getting off your favorite rollercoaster.  The most exciting part, unwrapping the gifts, was over for another year ...... or was it!  We would always forget there was more waiting for us in our stockings!  My mom would bring our overstuffed stockings to us and the excitement would start again.  Sometimes it was a special watch, spending money or a simple toy tucked in the stocking, but it was always good!

For my husband, Tim, every year he would get the wax bottles with "juice" inside in his stocking.   It was the only time of the year he would ever see the wax bottles and he would always look forward to finding them every Christmas.  Such a simple present resulted in a wonderful memory.  I don't know what it is about those bottles, but I loved those as a kid too!  Perhaps it's time to put them in my kid's stockings this year.

Take a second and tell us about your favorite stocking stuffer growing up.  We'd love to hear your story!
