The Top Selling Christmas Albums

Posted by GoGo Goodie on November 22, 2011.

With Thanksgiving just around the corner and all the stores being filled with gifts, the holiday season is already in full swing.  The decorations, stocking stuffers, gifts and food help set the holiday landscape, but nothing quite sets the mood like Christmas music. Yes, I am one of those people who can't help singing along with "White Christmas", "Jingle Bells" or whatever random Christmas song is being piped over the stores loudspeaker as I shop.

So, with my confession of my pavlovian response to Christmas music, I thought it would be fun to look at the top 5 selling Christmas albums of all time.  Starting with number 1, which is my own personal favorite.

1. Elvis Presley, Elvis' Christmas Album

Originally released in 1957, the album features the famous song "Blue Christmas.  Over the years the album has sold over 12 million copies.

2. Kenny G, Miracle - The Holiday Album

Released in 1994, this album held the top spot on the Billboard charts for 3 weeks and went on to sell over 7 million copies.

3. Mannheim Steamroller, A Fresh Aire Christmas

In 1998 The Mannheim Steamroller released A Fresh Aire Christmas, which was their second Christmas release to date.  It went on to sell over 6.2 million copies.

4. Mannheim Steamroller, Mannheim Steamroller

Released in 1984, this album spawned the instrumental hit "Deck The Halls".  It went on to sell just over 6 million copies.

5. Celine Dion, These Are Special Times

This was the number one holiday album from 1998 featuring the number 1 single "I'm Your Angel".  It has an impressive 5 million copies sold.

So let the Christmas music play and thanks for stopping by GoGo Goodie!
